Overview
Templates are saved project setups. A template stores the statuses and fields a project starts with, so every new project your team creates follows the same structure instead of being built from scratch.

What a template stores
A template holds the configuration a project begins with, specifically its statuses and its task fields. When you create a project from a template, the new project inherits that setup.
Each template card shows its name, how many statuses and fields it carries, who created it, and when.
The default template
LayerFive ships a global default template, the standard board setup new projects start with. It carries the five standard statuses and a set of task fields. Use it when you want a sensible, consistent starting point and have no reason to differ.
Templates marked global are available across your account. Others are the ones your team has saved.
Using a template
On the template you want, hover over it and click Use Template to create a new project from it. The project opens with that template's statuses and fields already in place, ready for you to add tasks.
Creating your own template
Save a template from the Project Settings tab when your team has settled on a way of working you want repeated. Standardizing statuses and fields once means every future project is consistent without anyone rebuilding the board each time.
